Champion Team Maxxis 4x4 Malaysia A Hat-trick Win in the 21st Rainforest Challenge (RFC) Grand Final 2017

4th December 2017, Sebarau, Pahang, Malaysia.  Rainforest Challenge is rated as the top 10 toughest automotive challenges in the world. We proudly announce that Team Maxxis 4x4 Malaysia had won the championship title of Rainforest Challenge (RFC) 2017. This victory marked a historical hat-trick win for Team Maxxis in three consecutive years from 2015 to 2017, a significant milestone that never been achieved in 21 years of Rainforest Challenge history.  RFC 2017 was hold at Pahang from 23 Nov to 4 Dec 2017 with participants from over 36 nations including Russia, Hong Kong/China, Equador, Colombia, Indonesia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Philippines and India. The team went through the most challenging terrains in the natural rainforest of Pahang which started at Balok Kuantan on 25th November and ended at Sebarau, Pahang on 5th December. The vehicle number 119 driven by Chang Chiew Shen, the champion driver for: the last two year's RFC, and his new co-driver August Rambil, has proven themselves to be the champion again by out-beating one of the most respected Russian teams, vehicle number 104 driven by Roman Kulbak and co-driver Pavel Kovalenko. Morning showers meant that even the opening Prologue leg, taking place at Pantai Balok, Kuantan on November 25, was full of excitement at Special Stage 7 (SS7). The downpour worsened the next day leading to rising water levels at the entrance to the Predator leg at Sungai Lembing. On day one, we have some 4km speed runs and many challenging obstacles with walls and big non-static rocks. During prologue SS no. 8, one of the extraordinary highlighted was a 30 feet vertical wall climb which required nerves of steel to attempt. We choose to use winch ropes and winching halfway up. Vehicle number 120 with driver Wong Fook Sang (Wong Sang) and co-driver Jamal bin Jaeland@Jailan is another Maxxis team. They did a respectable run attempting a night SS at Sungai Lembing in spite being a long vehicle. At Twilight Zone, we have teamed up with vehicle number 117 to conquer the dark. The team has completed Twilight Zone on 2nd December 2017 at 8.15 pm where the flag off was on 1st December 2017, 10 am which makes us the most outstanding Twilight Zone team. We are also the only team that successfully completed Twilight Zone in RFC 2017, claimed to be the toughest twilight zone ever in the history of 21 years of RFC. The 18 hours of non-stop hard work of winching, guiding, helping, encouraging and driving in the dark while being attacked endlessly by leeches and sand flies brought us back with.   After went through monsoon, muddy madness and much hardship of neck to neck battle with Team Russians, Team Maxxis 4x4 Malaysia has truly emerged as the champion, thus signifying the latest creation of M9060 Mud Trepador is a true winner in mud and rocky rivers battles. Not forgetting the support team of Team Maxxis 4x4 which has been providing relentless support and effort throughout the journey to be the winning team in RFC. Milwaukee tools provided significant down time with speedy repairs on our competition vehicle as they are durable battery-operated tools that can be used under heavy rain continuously in the most adverse conditions during monsoon. We at Team Maxxis recorded awesome performance in better control with the competition vehicle with Bendix brake pads as the new design pads require no run-in time with the disc n is able to brake well in deep mud n sand. The need for brake pads change during RFC 2017 was significantly reduced. Driver was able to drive with better percision n control on Bendix pads as compared to other brands in the past.
